Fire Phil Liggett: The Wilcockson Equilibrium
“Things came to a head in April 1994, when Armstrong was strong enough to win Liège-Bastogne-Liège, but was beaten by a runaway rider from the suspect Italian team, Gewiss.”
…Armstrong did finish second in that race behind Evgeni Berzin, but the chase group of four contained one of Berzin’s teammates. But no, tactics were probably irrelevant. It was all doping…
Watched this race yesterday. Berzin attacks with 6km left and no one reacts. It was, quite possibly, the least-doped looking win in the history of Gewiss.
While the intro sequence is probably the best part of
Double Rush (filmed by Spike Jonez, pre-Beastie Boys), the best 90s reference in this clip comes at 5:11, when Zoe rants about “twenty thousand dollars a year in tuition” at Harvard Business School.
