Results of the the UCI’s Women’s World Cup jersey design contest were announced today, and the winner is Rabobank-Liv/Giant’s Iris Slappendel.

Slappendel, like many (most?) female cyclists has a degree—industrial design in this case—and the designs are as solid as you’d expect. Plus, as a Hartford resident, I have a soft spot for the the use of negative space lettering in sports logos.

That said, I do wonder exactly what the UCI will do about the prize of a free trip to a UCI world cup (Slappendel won a WC event in 2012) and a signed jersey from the WC champion (Slappendel might already have a few from teammate Marianne Vos).
